Tri-County Design Students Visit Curry

Bob Gardner explains digital printing
to one of the tour's sub-groups.
On Friday, April 5th, graphic design students who attend Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School (RVTHS) took a field trip to Curry Printing in Westborough to see first-hand how design skills can be utilized in the business world.  There were 41 teens who participated in the visit which was the first stop in a two-part field trip that concluded with a visit to the Worcester Art Museum.

Tri-County RVTHS was established in 1977 to provide a comprehensive technical and academic education to regional high school students.  Creative and cooperative partnerships between area employers and a dynamic staff at Tri-County produce exciting programs designed to prepare graduates for careers in the twenty-first century.  The tour of Curry Printing allowed the students behind-the-scenes access to the visual communication industry and helped them understand how graphic design work gets rendered into physical form.

Robert Gardner, Curry’s Vice President of Production and one of the guides for the tour said, “It’s very exciting to see so many of our next generation having an interest in graphic design.  The creative aptitudes that are the foundation for producing quality print are also valuable skills to help in other areas like problem solving.  Skills like these are vital in the workplace these days.  Design helps prepare students for their future,” says Gardner.

Peter Gardner, Curry's President, explains the benefits of
offset printing and shows the company's Komori press.
Kevin Dixon, Prepress Lead, explains how files are
processed and prepared for printing.

  7. It's fantastic to see how Tri-County Design Students are expanding their horizons by visiting Curry! This experience must have been a unique opportunity for them to witness real-world design processes in action. I couldn't help but notice the seamless integration of technology during their visit, especially the utilization of IP phones. It's incredible how modern communication tools like ip phones have become integral in the design industry. These devices not only enhance collaboration but also streamline communication, allowing students to grasp the significance of efficient communication within a professional setting. Kudos to Curry for providing students with a glimpse into the dynamic world of design while highlighting the essential role of cutting-edge technology like IP phones!

  8. Thank you for providing this incredible information about the tri-country design students' visit to Curry. I firmly believe that it will be beneficial for students. Additionally, you could also consider including information about comedians who went to cambridge. Given the increasing number of young people pursuing careers in comedy or meme creation in this era, highlighting their experiences at Cambridge would be valuable.
